DO’S & DON’TS OF ATM/ DEBIT CARD OPERATION

1. SIGN ON THE STRIP ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT.
2. MEMORISE YOUR PIN AND DESTROY ALL PHYSICAL EVIDENCE OF THE PIN.
3. DESTROY THE PIN AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT.
4. ALWAYS CHANGE THE PIN AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT.
5. FIRST USE OF THE CARD MUST BE ON AN ATM . ELSE IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AT POINT OF SALE (POS) TERMINAL.
6. REGISTER YOUR MOBILE NUMBER WITH THE BANK FOR GETTING SMS ALERTS FOR YOUR ATM
TRANSACTION.
7. ANY UNAUTHORISED CARD TRANSACTIONS IN THE
ACCOUNT, IF OBSERVED, SHOULD BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY TO THE BANK.
8. STORE YOUR CARD IN A SECURED PLACE WHERE YOU MAY IMMEDIATELY KNOW IF IT IS MISSING.
9. CHECK THE AREA FOR SUSPICIOUS-LOOKING PEOPLE BEFORE YOU APPROACH THE ATM. LEAVE THE ATM IMMEDIATELY IF YOU
DON, T FEEL SAFE.
10. ONCE YOU COMPLETE YOUR
TRANSACTION, BEFORE LEAVING, BE SURE THAT ‘WELCOME SCREEN’ IS DISPLAYED IN THE ATM AND IT IS SCROLLING.
11. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE CARD IS SWIPED IN YOUR PRESENCE AT POS.
12.IF YOUR ATM/DEBIT CARD IS LOST OR STOLEN, IMMEDIATELY HOT LIST THE CARD THROUGH TOLL FREE NUMBER PROVIDED BY BANK.
13. WHEN YOU DESTROY YOUR CARD UPON EXPIRY OR CLOSURE OF YOUR ACCOUNT, CUT IT INTO PIECES THROUGH THE MAGNETIC STRIP.
14. IF CASH IS NOT DISBURSED BUT THE ACCOUNT GETS DEBITED FOR THE AMOUNT, YOU SHOULD LODGE A COMPLAINT WITH THE CARD ISSUING BANK WHERE ACCOUNT IS MAINTAINED. THIS PROCESS IS APPLICABLE EVEN IF THE TRANSACTION WAS CARRIED OUT AT OTHER BANKS ATM.

15. YOU MAY LODGE A COMPLAINT WITH THE LOCAL BANKING OMBUDSMAN IF THE CARD ISSUING BANK DOES NOT RESPOND YOUR COMPLAINT.

16. DO NOT DISCLOSE DETAILS LIKE PASSWORDS, DEBIT CARD GRID VALUES, ETC. TO ANYONE, EVEN IF THEY CLAIM TO BE BANK EMPLOYEES OR ON E- MAILS/LINKS FROM GOVERNMENT BODIES LIKE RBI, IT DEPT. ETC.
17. DO NOT SAVE CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION SUCH AS YOUR DEBIT/CREDIT CARD NUMBERS, CVV NUMBERS OR PIN’S ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE.
18. USE A COMBINATION OF RANDOM LETTERS AND NUMBERS FOR YOUR PASSWORD.
19. CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD REGULARLY.

20. DEBIT CARDS CAN ALSO BE BLOCKED/UNBLOCKED THROUGH MOBILE BANKING BY CARDHOLDER AS MANY NUMBER OF TIMES AS DESIRED BY THEM .
