  • Now I will teach you What is the difference between sentence formation in English and sentence formation in Bengali

EXAMPLE 1. – I(Subject) am (be verb) reading (Finite verb) a(article) story(Adjective) book(object) – ami (Subject) ekta(Article) golper (adjective) boi(object) porchi (verb).

EXAMPLE 2. – I(Subject) shall (be verb) go (Finite verb) to market(object) – ami (Subject) bazare (Object) jabo (verb)

So, you can easily understand that verb comes in end of the sentence in Bengali ( if it is not negative or interrogative sentence) where as verb comes in between subject and object in English.

  • Meaning of ‘A or an’ – ekta ba ekti (Example a book or an orange – ekta boi ba ekta komla lebu. In Bengali ekta or ekti is used before consonant and also before vowel, not like as A or An in English.
  • Meaning of ‘The’ – Ti (Example The cat – biral ti or ta ), Meaning of ‘the’ comes after noun
  • Improve your Bengali vocabulary from dictionary according to your need
  • Improve your pronunciation by hearing Bengali news
  • Use of Preposition in the Bengali language is not like as the English language. In English preposition comes after verb but in Bengali preposition comes before verb or most of the time there is no use of preposition. For example: –
  1. The boy was absent from (preposition) school – balokti(the boy) bidyaloye (school) anuposthit (absent)chilo(was) : no preposition used.
  2. We should be familiar with (preposition) the Bengali language – amader(we) bangla(Bengali) vashaytir(the language) sathe(with) porichito(familiar) houya uchit (should be)
  3. We put our books into(preposition) our bags – Amra( we) amader( our) boiguli(books) amader (our)tholite( bags) rakhlam(put) : no preposition used.
  • Some example of using What, Who , How , When, Where, Why : -try to use these words in Bengali at the last word of the sentence while learning but when you will be at home in Bengali , you can use these words anywhere in the sentence according to need.
  1. What is your name? – tomar(your) nam(name) ki (what)
  2. Who are you? – Apni ba tumi(you) ke (who)
  3. How is your father? – Apnar(you) baba(father) Kemon achen(how is )
  4. When will you finish your work? – tumi(you) tomar(your) kaj(work) shesh korbe (will finish) kkhon(when)
  5. Where is your residence? – apnar(your) bari(residence) kothai(where)
  6. Why do you drink milk daily? – apni( you) roj( daily) dudh( milk) khan(drink) keno ( why)
  • Example of using Which,: –
  1. Which is your favourite book – kon(which) boi(book) tomar (your) valo lage (favourite)
  • Example of using negative sentences –
  1. I do not know – ami jani na ( আমি জানি না )
  2. She does not know how to make tea – Se cha korte jane na ( সে চা করতে জানে না )
  3. He was not in Delhi – Se Delhi te chilo na (সে দিল্লি তে ছিল না )
  4. Hope, you have observed that negative word in English sentence comes at end of the sentence in Bengali (na,ni,noy, non) .
  • Some useful word :
  1. GOOD MORNING – SHUPROVAT ( শুপ্রভাত )
  2. GOOD EVENING – SHUVO SANDHYA ( শুভ সন্ধ্যা )
  3. GOOD NIGHT – SHUVO RATRI (শুভ রাত্রি )
  4. THANKS – DHONYOBAD ( ধন্যবাদ )
  5. PLEASE – DOYA KORE (দয়া করে )
  6. SORRY – DUKHITO ( দুঃখিত )
  7. YES – HA ( হ্যাঁ )
  8. NO – NA ( না )
  9. VERY GOOD – KHUB VALO ( খুব ভালো )
  10. SEE YOU – ABAR DEKHA HBE ( আবার দেখা হবে )
  11. WHAT – KI ( কি )
  12. WHEN – KKHON ( কখন )
  13. WHY – KENO (কেন )
  14. WHICH – KONTA ( কোনটা )
  15. WHERE – KOTHAY ( কোথায় )
  16. WHO – KE ( কে )
